Khao Tao

During a recent trip to Hua Hin, S and I found ourselves lacking plans for the day. We had already explored the local markets and attractions and were unsure what, or where, to explore next.

Lacking inspiration we decided to jump in the car and see where the road took us, and that place was Khao Tao, a little village just 15 minutes south of Hua Hin.

Khao Tao is a fishing village with an inland lake, two beaches, and a name that translates to Turtle Hill. At the mention of turtles my interest was immediately piqued so we slapped on some suncream and set off to explore.

It turns out that turtle hill is an extremely misleading name, because there wasn’t a single turtle in sight. But it was a struggle to be disappointed when you found these views.

To get to the rocks all the large stone behind the mermaid state, turn right through the thicket until you come to a large stone peering out on your right hand side. Climb up the rock (careful it’s steep!) and enjoy!

After climbing to the top we found a little restaurant to cool down with a beverage in.

If I had to pick a favourite part of travelling, it would definitely be finding random spots like this!
