A Friendly Face

This morning I woke with a start, due to some stupidly excited creep looking at me very closely. That creep was S and he was excited because our friend, Tom, was in Bangkok for a few hours. Tom is one of my favourite people, but as a photographer who flits around the world, for fashion week and tropical projects, we never get to see him. However that was about to change, so we jumped up, showered and head off to Khaosan to meet him.

Khaosan road is a place notorious amongst travellers, and whilst I don’t particularly enjoy it at night, it has a completely different vibe during the day. Backpackers pass through topping up their attire before setting back on the road, whilst others chill along the bars eating street food and chatting amongst their friends. Today I saw Khaosan in a whole new light, and that light made me see how pleasant it is beneath the wide eyed drunks and rowdy reputation it has accumulated over the years.

Bursting at the seams with stories to exchange we slipped into mulligans to rehydrate and before we knew it the hours had flown by.

After an intense game of pool, we decided to skip the air con, take a wander and let our hair down.

After Tom managed to tame the volume that his hair has amassed from months of travelling, we decided it was too hot and set off to find somewhere to cool down.
Which is when we found D&D Inn.
Hidden at the end of an inside walkway in Khaosan, you would miss it if you weren’t looking for it.

But when you get to the seventh floor and walk out onto the rooftop, you’ll be glad that you didn’t. The pool is up high enough to escape the noise, and with views of Bangkok to the right it’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the markets.

Oh – and it also has a bar!
Beers are priced around ฿60 and a spirit and mixer costs ฿130. D&D Inn has a high amount of backpackers passing through so if you’re looking for somewhere to meet like minded people, this is a good place to start.

After a couple of hours in the rays it was time to say our goodbyes.
